NFL Hypocrites

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Sunday morning that his instructed his entire team to stay in the locker room during the national anthem to “avoid politics”.  This in itself is a major political statement because it goes against the standard NFL operation manual on top of taking away free speech from each of his players. So Tomlin is avoiding politics by playing politics?

In an effort to avoid the First Amendment Right issue, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin took away the First Amendment right of every player by instructing his entire team to stay in the locker room.  Yeah that should fix it.

Monday on Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed,” co-host Shannon Sharpe criticized Pittsburgh Steelers tackle and former Army Ranger and Afghan war veteran Alejandro Villanueva’s decision to go “rogue” by going onto the field Sunday to stand for the national anthem before the team’s game with the Chicago Bears, despite the coach telling the team to remain in the locker room.

Alejandro Villanueva “going rogue” by standing for the national anthem

Shannon Sharpe criticized Villanueva for exercising his free speech by standing, but praised Kaepernick for exercising his free speech by kneeling

“I believe he was wrong in this situation,” stated Sharpe. “I believe he put his personal feelings and beliefs in front of that of the team.”

So Sharp says Kaepernick and others are exercising free speech when they kneel for the anthem, but it’s wrong for a player to exercise his free speech and stand for the anthem?

I am glad to see stories like this popping up all over America…

About avirginiapatriot1776

I hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts. — Ronald Reagan
